Masturbating men ‘will find their hands pregnant in the afterlife,’ says Muslim televangelist

Posted by doctore0 on May 26, 2015

Religion aka max stupid in progress :)

After claiming that a man would meet his masturbating hand “pregnant in the afterlife” and “asking for its rights,” a Muslim televangelist has set Turkish social media aflame.

Self-styled televangelist Mücahid Cihad Han dived into some delicate matters on May 24 when he answered his viewers’ questions on private television station 2000 TV, Turkish media has reported. Han initially looked puzzled when a viewer said he “kept masturbating, although he was married, and even during the Umrah,” a pilgrimage to Mecca performed by Muslims which can be undertaken at any time of the year, in contrast to the Hajj.

After repeating the question a few times, Han claimed that Islam strictly prohibits masturbation as a “haram” (forbidden) act. “Moreover, one hadith states that those who have sexual intercourse with their hands will find their hands pregnant in the afterlife, complaining against them to God over its rights,” he said, referring to what he claimed to be a saying of Prophet Muhammad.

Cardinal George Pell offered bribe to child sex abuse victim, inquiry told

Posted by doctore0 on May 20, 2015

pedophile2A senior Vatican official, who is also Australia’s highest ranking cleric, has been accused of attempting to bribe a victim of child sex abuse to keep quiet about the molestation he suffered from a paedophile Catholic priest.

The victim, David Ridsdale, told an Australian royal commission into child sexual abuse that he called Cardinal George Pell in 1993 to report being abused by his uncle Gerald Ridsdale, a former priest who is in prison after committing more than 130 offences against children as young as four between the 1960s and 1980s.

David Ridsdale said Pell had a “terse” response to being told of the abuse, before offering him money to buy his silence.

“George then began to talk about my growing family and my need to take care of their needs,” Ridsdale told the royal commission hearing. “He mentioned how I would soon have to buy a car or house for my family.

“I remember with clarity the last three lines we spoke together. Me: Excuse me, George, what the fuck are you talking about? George: I want to know what it will take to keep you quiet. Me: Fuck you, George, and everything you stand for.”

Ridsdale, now 48, said he called his sister after the conversation with Pell and told her “the bastard tried to bribe me”.

Bangladesh Blogger Hacked To Death By Masked Men

Posted by doctore0 on May 12, 2015

:( The madness of religion

A blogger has been hacked to death by a masked gang in Bangladesh – the third such murder of a critic of religious extremism in three months.

Ananta Bijoy Das, 33, wrote for the Mukto-Mona (Free Mind) website which describes itself as a space for “freethinkers, sceptics, atheists and humanists”.

“Attackers wearing masks hacked Ananta Bijoy Das with machetes in Sylhet city at around 8.30am this morning. We have learnt that he was a writer,” deputy commissioner of Sylhet police Faisal Mahmud said.

The front page of the website now displays the message “We are united in grief and remain undefeated” written in white on a black background.

A friend of Mr Das claims he had received death threats and was on a hitlist of atheist bloggers drawn up by Islamist militants. His death marks an escalation in religious violence in the country.

Mukto-Mona used to be moderated by Avijit Roy, 43, a Bangladeshi-born US citizen living in Atlanta, who was hacked to death in the capital Dhaka in February.

Mr Roy was a prominent voice against religious intolerance, and his family and friends said he had been threatened for his writings.

Local reports in Moroccan say the woman was ‘possessed by Satan’, and it was decided the best way to deal with the problem was to yell religious passages at her while hitting her with the sticks.

A report by the Morocco World News said the woman’s relatives were convinced she was “possessed by the devil”, so she took the extraordinary decision to call in an exorcist.

The shocking incident took place last Friday, but the woman finally died after what the newspaper called continuous sessions of exorcism performed by a “fqih” (exorcist) in Douar Beni Salah in the Tetouan region of Morocco.

Pope to allow absolution of abortion during Holy Year

Posted by doctore0 on May 7, 2015

Uhh must have spaketh unto the lard…

Pope Francis has decreed that priests may absolve women of the “sin of a procured abortion” during Holy Year next year.

In Catholic teaching, it is normally only bishops or the Pope himself who may absolve the faithful of the sin of abortion, which leads to excommunication from the Church.

In keeping with his ministry of mercy, however, Pope Francis has extended his powers of forgiveness to those “missionaries of mercy” priests who will visit Catholic dioceses and parishes during Holy Year.

The announcement of the new measure was made in the Vatican this week by Archbishop Rino Fisichella, the president of the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelisation and the Pope’s point man on the organisation of Holy Year.

“The missionaries of mercy are priests sent out by the Holy Father at the beginning of Lent. The Pope is sending them out [to dioceses and parishes] as a tangible sign of how a priest should be a man of pardon, close to everyone…”

Georgia: Orthodoxy in the classroom

Posted by doctore0 on May 7, 2015

TheocracyGeorgia’s liberal politicians say only alignment with Europe and the US will allow the country to overcome its post-Soviet past and survive as an independent nation. But is the country’s anti-Western and increasingly influential Orthodox Church using schools to breed a generation of religious conservatives whose beliefs are more aligned with Vladimir Putin’s Russia than the West?

When 14-year-old Giorgi came home from school on 16 October 2014 in Tbilisi, Georgia, his older brother Dato knew immediately something was wrong. Bruised and battered, Giorgi described how four older boys took turns kicking him in front of other schoolmates. “This wasn’t just a boys’ fight,” Dato says.

Giorgi was beaten because he had called himself an atheist.

Rights groups say this is just one example of growing religious intolerance in Georgia’s state schools, fostered by what they say is a campaign of indoctrination encouraged by the country’s Orthodox Church.

“They told me: ‘You offend our religion, you are an infidel,'” Giorgi says. The school principal confirmed the story, but said the issue has been resolved.
