NEWPORT, TENN. — A judge in Tennessee changed a 7-month-old boy’s name to Martin from Messiah, saying the religious name was earned by one person and “that one person is Jesus Christ.”

Stupid judge eh, also, rather stupid name πŸ˜›

This Tennesee judge violates the separation of state and church, by her judgement that “Messiah is a title, which only belongs to Jesus Christ”. The argument that messiah is title only to be hold by Jesus, is a theological position, which is rejected by other religions, Judaism in particular. Therefore by endorsing a certain theological position, the state, in the person of this judge, is inteferring with religion.

(WBIR) Between 2011 and 2012, Messiah was in the top five for male baby names growing in popularity in the U.S.

That’s according to the Social Security Administration’s annual list of the top 1000 baby names.
