Evolution is the fundamental idea in all of life science, in all of biology. According to Bill Nye, aka “The Science Guy,” if grownups want to “deny evolution and live in your world that’s completely inconsistent with everything we observe in the universe, that’s fine, but don’t make your kids do it because we need them

I’m a fan of Bill Nye, but one point of contention. Creationism (or evolution denial) is not a uniquely American phenomenon. It happens in many places in Africa and in Britain. I know because I’ve lived there and it still happens. It is not as localized as he seems to believe. If you want to fight a problem, you have to look at it much more broadly. Now, the difference between Britain and those other countries is that Intelligent Design (so called) is not considered for any school’s curriculum, and maybe that’s what he’s talking about. That is, I believe, a uniquely American phenomenon.
