Catholic exorcists call for ‘Holyween’ to replace Halloween

Holyween-er party? ;)

Holyween-er party? ;)

Halloween is a dangerous celebration that can tempt people into Satanism and should be replaced by a rival festival called “Holyween” based on the adoration of Christian saints, Catholic exorcist priests have said.

As families in Britain prepare to hollow out pumpkins and dress up as ghouls and ghosts, the Catholic Church in Italy warned that celebrating Halloween can tempt people into worship of the occult.

Most people might think Halloween was a bit of harmless fun involving fake blood and Frankenstein masks, but they would be gravely mistaken, said Father Aldo Buonaiuto, a Catholic priest who took part in an international conference of exorcists in Rome earlier this week.

“Halloween originates from superstitions that exalt malign spirits and demons. Many people see it as a simple carnival, but it is anything but innocent, it is a subterranean world based on the occult,” he told La Nazione, an Italian newspaper.

“Halloween is the anti-chamber towards something much more disturbing. For devotees of the occult, October 31 is the satanic new year. It’s a time for luring new converts. And it’s a time when exorcists have to work harder,” said the priest, a member of the Pope John XXIII Association, a Catholic organisation which combats black magic sects in 25 countries around the world

Creationists to explore link between Hitler and evolution at Michigan State conference

Creationists will gather Saturday at Michigan State University to explore the links between Nazism and the theory of evolution. The Origins Summit will also discuss why “the Big Bang is fake” and “natural selection is NOT evolution,” according to ScienceInsider. The creationist group will also examine the work of Michigan State biologist Richard Lenski, who conducted an influential study on evolution within bacterial populations.

Michigan State is home to several other prominent evolutionary biologists, including Robert Pennock, who testified in a 2005 federal case that prohibited the teaching of intelligent design in public schools.

The university is also the lead partner in The BEACON Center for the Study of Evolution in Action, which is funded by the National Science Foundation and promotes evolution-related research and education.

The Oklahoma-based Creation Summit group reserved a room at the university’s business school through a religious student group – which did not know about specific topics for discussion until later.

The creationist group said the event was planned at the university in East Lansing because four of its board members live in Michigan, but members plan to organize additional conferences at other universities.

Pope Francis praises exorcists for combating ‘the Devil’s works’

Posted by doctore0 on October 29, 2014

exorcismPope Francis has told a convention of exorcists from around the world that they are doing sterling service in combating “the Devil’s works”, as the Catholic Church warned of a rise in Satanism and the occult.

The Pope, who frequently cites the fight against Satan in his sermons, said that exorcists needed to show “the love and welcome of the Church for those possessed by evil”. By treating people who were possessed, priests could demonstrate that “the Church welcomes those suffering from the Devil’s works,” he said in a message to a conference organised in Rome by the International Association of Exorcists.

The organisation, which brings together Catholic clergy and psychiatrists, was founded in 1990 by two Catholic priests and was given formal recognition by the Vatican in June.

At the conference, 300 priests and experts from around 30 countries discussed the perils of the occult and Satanism, which many in the Catholic Church believe is on the increase.

“The struggle against evil and the Devil is becoming more and more of an emergency,” Walter Cascioli, a psychiatrist and the spokesman for the association, told Vatican Radio.

Preacher fights curse of Ebola with Vimto

Liberian self-styled bishop Edward Adjei is one of a number of independent clergymen who believes a mass exorcism must be carried out to drive out Ebola “demons”.

Using Vimto as cheap replacement for communion wine, he wants to exorcise the presidential palace in order to banish Ebola from the nation.

Mr Adjei, who claims to have had warning of the impending Ebola epidemic in a revelation last December, has now written a joint letter with other Liberian clergymen asking permission from the Liberian government to do an exorcism of the building.

Atheists sue Washington County over denial to perform marriages

Posted by doctore0 on October 24, 2014

-
A Washington County manager’s refusal to register an atheist seeking to solemnize marriages has led to a lawsuit contesting Minnesota law as unconstitutional.

Atheists for Human Rights (AFHR) and Rodney Michael Rogers allege that state law and county policy deprived the organization and Rogers of “equal protection of laws” guaranteed in the 14th Amendment. Their suit also said that “content-based discrimination” violated the free speech clause of the First Amendment.

“When the statute clearly permits recognition of a marriage celebrant whose religious credentials consist of nothing more than a $20 ‘ordination’ obtained from the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster … the requirement is absolutely meaningless in terms of ensuring the qualifications of a marriage celebrant,” Golden Valley attorney Randall Tigue wrote on behalf of AFHR.

Attorneys for the county responded by saying that employees had to follow state law and said the atheist organization had acknowledged that online: “We have to wait until the November elections are over before we proceed with legislation to amend the Minnesota marriage statutes to include celebrants other than court personnel and clergy.”

Rick Hodsdon, an assistant county attorney, said he didn’t see any allegations in the complaint that the county had misinterpreted the law. The state isn’t named as a defendant.

“This is an orchestrated effort to use Washington County as a test case,” Hodsdon said Thursday.

Pope Francis to investigate ‘playboy priests’

Posted by doctore0 on October 24, 2014

priests.gone.wildA Catholic church representative is to probe the ‘black sheep’ diocese of Albenga-Imperia for alleged sexual harassment of parishioners and involvement in pornography

A scandal-ridden Catholic diocese in Italy where priests posted naked photos of themselves on gay websites, raided church coffers and sexually harassed parishioners is to be investigated by a special envoy to Pope Francis.

The Pope reportedly intends to send an “apostolic administrator” to assess allegations that the diocese of Albenga-Imperia, in the Liguria region of northern Italy, has hosted a string of “playboy priests” moon-lighting as barmen, stealing parish funds and getting tattooed.

Described by one Italian newspaper as “the most gossiped about diocese in Italy”, it has been run for the last 25 years by Bishop Mario Oliveri, 70.

He is expected to be replaced in the near future by an auxiliary bishop, according to Il Secolo XIX, the region’s main newspaper.

Pope Francis has already sent Adriano Bernardini, an apostolic nuncio, or ambassador, to conduct a preliminary investigation into the scandals thay have allegedly unfolded under Bishop Oliveri’s watch.

The bishop himself is not accused of any wrongdoing, but is reported to have been overly-charitable in recruiting “black sheep” priests with distinctly chequered pasts, including trainee priests expelled from seminaries for misconduct.

They include a priest who was found guilty of organising an under-age prostitution ring and others who posted nude photos of themselves on Facebook and gay websites

School to parents: Does your son have to be Buddhist?

Posted by doctore0 on October 23, 2014

Across the US, especially in the rural South, parents say their kids endure school-sanctioned religious activity

NEGREET, La. — Shortly after the start of the last school year, Sharon Lane said it became a fight to get her son out of the house.

“Every day, driving the same route … he would get upset and tell me, ‘Pull over, I’m going to throw up,’” Lane recalled. “What the kicker was is when he told me that he’d rather die than go to school.”

As their once well-adjusted son grew increasingly despondent, the Lanes were mystified. Then his stepsister Anna Lane, who was in the same science class, mentioned their tests.

Those tests routinely featured the question, “Isn’t it amazing what the _____ has made!!!” Fill in the word “Lord” and get extra credit.

She said she saw the science teacher stand over C.C. (“America Tonight” agreed not to us his real name) and berate him for not knowing what to put in the blank.

“She called him stupid,” Anna said, “because he believed another religion and he didn’t know all about Christianity.”

Every year, the ACLU receives dozens of reports from across the country of public schools possibly violating the separation of church and state. And more often than not, according to the ACLU, it’s the activity of evangelical Christians that treads constitutional lines.
