I think this is a great idea. We need to replace the positive aspects of religion, like a sense of community, reverence for life and perhaps even group contemplation. So I think its great that they are doing this.
However I think its unfortunate that they are making so many assumptions about what secular people are like and what we want in terms of a “church”.
I for one don’t really want to watch a comedian jumping about and swearing on stage as part of my secular church experience. Nor do I want to necessarily do a sing along to what ever group of musicians happen to want to turn up. Neither of these things are really replacing what churches offer. The gathering and sense of community does seem to be apparent though and that’s great.
