Vampire fears boost garlic sales in Serbia

Terrible news: not only do we have to worry about Bigfoot on the prowl in Vermont, but now there is a vampire loose in Serbia.
The village of Zarozje in Serbia has issued a public health warning to its citizens after the abandoned watermill housing the local vampire collapsed, meaning he is on the loose. Sava Savanovic supposedly lived in the watermill and drank the blood of anyone who dared to visit at night; during daytime, when vampires cannot go out due to the sunlight, Savonic’s home was a tourist location. But now the mill has collapsed from disrepair and Savonic has got to find new digs for his bloodsucking capers.
The Zarozje council has warned its citizens to defend themselves by hanging garlic from their doors and windows. “We have also reminded them to put a Holy cross in every room in the house,” said the mayor, Miodrag Vujetic.
He added, “People are worried, everybody knows the legend of this vampire and the thought that he is now homeless and looking for somewhere else and possibly other victims is terrifying people. We are all frightened.”
