———-8<———— Vatican City, Feb 25, 2010 (CNA).- The Pontifical Council for Culture has announced that it is creating a foundation to focus on relations with atheists and agnostics. The president of the Council announced the initiative on Wednesday as a response to Pope Benedict’s call to “renew dialogue with men and women who don’t believe but want to move towards God.”
Speaking with the Italian Bishops’ Conference’s Avvenire newspaper, Archbishop Gianfranco Ravasi, president of the Pontifical Council for Culture (PCC), outlined the objectives of the foundation, called “The Courtyard of the Gentiles.”
“Firstly,” he said, it is “to create a network of agnostic or atheistic people who accept dialogue and enter as members into the foundation and, as such, into our dicastery.”
Archbishop Ravasi listed further objectives of starting relations with atheistic organizations, studying the “spiritual place” of non-believers and developing “themes of rapport between religion, society, peace and nature.”
“With this initiative, we would like to help everyone to step out of a poor conception of believing, (and) promote the understanding that theology has scientific dignity” and a founding in nature, he continued.
These themes, said Archbishop Ravasi, would be addressed in a yearly conference, the first of which will take place in “the second half of this year, probably in Paris.” Source

————–8<————– Brazil’s Catholic Church is suing Hollywood for using unauthorized images of Rio’s famous giant Christ statue in its disaster movie blockbuster 2012, a lawyer involved in the case said on Wednesday.
Rio de Janeiro’s archdiocese is demanding unspecified damages and interest from Columbia Pictures for showing the iconic landmark being destroyed in a worldwide apocalypse in a film that came out last year, the archdiocese’s attorney, Claudine Dutra, said.
The archdiocese manages copyright issues related to the 40-meter (130-foot) high statue erected in 1931, which overlooks Rio with its arms outstretched.
Under Brazilian law, copyright resides in the author of a work until his death, and then is passed on to his heirs or estate or successor entity for another 70 years.
The Christ the Redeemer statue was created by Paul Landowski, a French artist of Polish descent, on commission from the Rio archdiocese and erected in 1931.

The new battle centers on a link on the district’s Web page that was quietly removed on Feb. 16. Titled “America: Republic or Democracy?” the link led directly to an essay by William P. Meyers, a California-based writer who heralds his belief that Jesus Christ is one in a long string of “historic vampires.”
After discovering the link, Highland resident Susan Schnell sent an e-mail to some parents, saying the district had linked itself with a “radical socialist who believes Jesus is a vampire” and that the link is part of a national campaign. Schnell has worked with one of the district’s most outspoken critics, Oak Norton, to bring attention to their concerns. Read more

For those of you who do not know, Richard Dawkins is one of the worst offenders before God. He promotes bestial relations. He thinks that a less evolved human man and a monkey woman had sexual relations to create us.
For years we warned atheists that we would take down their site entitled RichardDawkins.net, by the power prayer.
The atheists laughed and said prayer did not exist. They cursed us and said there was no God. I warned them time and again, and now, we see the true power of God as he has closed their sinful site, RichardDawkins.net.
For those of you who do not know, Richard Dawkins is one of the worst offenders before God. He promotes bestial relations. He thinks that a “less evolved” human man and a monkey woman had sexual relations to create us.
Evolutionists believe monkeys and humans procreated to give rise to you and me, and that this type of behavior is normal. That is why atheists also believe in such nonsense as homunculus, animals in the womb and why Richard Dawkins cusses in the face of Christians.
God has had enough of atheists and has heard our prayers. I would like to take this time to thank all of you who helped us organize the ChristWire Against Dawkins network.
That network alone grew to over 93,000 members worldwide and was able to raise nearly $15,000 in our capital campaign to fund prayer against the richarddawkins.net forums.
A special thanks to our friend and colleague Quoc Van Thai, who in addition to volunteering long hours to create brochures for the mailing list, also translated our materials on the atheist forums to Chinese for our Asian missions.
It is truly a wonderful day and let us pray the lives and “entertainment” sources of atheists continue to dry it. Those who stand against God stand against America, freedom and humanity. It is a blessing to see the atheists cursed and to know that a person filled with so much vitriolic hate as Richard Dawkins is have a miserable day. Glory.
