I am a Muslim, but feel disgusted with the Saudi government. They portray my religion to be that which it is not. They purposefully pass stuff as ‘sharia’ when it is not. Lashes, as punishment, are prescribed in the Qura’an for both men and women who commit adultery (consensual sex acts) outside marriage, whether pre-marital or post-marital affairs. Has nothing to do with a cell phone, communicating with others or such. And men are not excused from such punishment according to the Qur’an. Yet, what we see in Saudi Arabia, women are continually punished but not men for adultery. Also, the Saudi government took it upon themselves to invent draconian laws and then pass them as ‘qur’anic’ laws even though they have nothing to do with Islam or Qur’an.
It’s so sad. And their actions are shame for the rest of the Muslims all over the globe. Why are not Muslims doing much about it? Well, the answer is obvious. Western Muslims could care less because in their own countries they are content with their Muslim communities and practices. Muslims in the countries like Saudi Arabia, however, are too scared for being branded ‘apostates,’ or ‘heretics.’ And we know what kind of unislamic, non Qur’anic, punishment for such is!!!
